Residential drug and alcohol rehab in the heart of Lancashire

Littledale is a therapeutic community with personalised 3-12 month programmes for adults whose lives have been affected by addiction and trauma. We treat the person, not just the addiction.

Who We Help

Is Littledale For Me?

At Littledale, we believe connection is the antidote to the isolation of addiction. We're a residential rehab and therapeutic community near Lancaster, for adults affected by alcohol or drug addiction and the trauma beneath it - with longer-term programmes for those who've tried to stop before.

  • Adults 18+

Our programmes are for adults of any age. Whatever your background, or how long addiction has been part of your life, you're welcome here.

  • 3-12 month residential

Immersive, longer-term treatment - you live here, with the time and space to understand your addiction and rebuild a life beyond it.

  • By choice, not by force

Coming to Littledale is always voluntary. The assessment runs both ways: you decide whether we're right for you, just as we consider whether we can meet your needs.

How To Start

Taking the First Step

Reaching out is often the hardest part, so we keep it simple. Whether you're seeking help for yourself or someone you love, or making a professional referral, here's what happens next.

For Yourself Or A Loved One

  1. Get in touch: Call our admissions team for a relaxed, no-pressure chat about your situation.

  2. Visit and assessment: Look around the hall and meet us for an assessment. It runs both ways: you're deciding whether we're right for you, too.

  3. Decide together: Take your time. If Littledale's a good fit and funding's in place, we'll agree an admission date.

Our Approach

How We Treat

Littledale is built around our neuro-bio-psycho-social (NBPS) model. This is an approach that treats addiction across four connected areas: the brain, the body, the mind, and the relationships and circumstances around you. Rather than tackling the addiction alone, we work across all four, so recovery has firm foundations to last.

Relational health & wellbeing

Rebuilding trust and connection: repairing family relationships and learning to form the healthy ones that support a life in recovery.

Everyday health & wellbeing

Engaging the spirit through art, mindfulness, and physical activity to promote holistic healing and self-expression.

Trauma & addiction

Safe, supported space to begin addressing the trauma that so often sits beneath addiction, with experienced staff alongside you.

Life At Littledale

The Hall & Grounds

Littledale sits in 200 acres of private countryside on the edge of the Trough of Bowland, just outside Lancaster - calm, private, and a world away from the pressures that fuel addiction. It's a place with room to breathe and think, where you'll recover alongside a community of others, with staff on hand around the clock.

  • 200 acres of countryside

Private woodland, gardens and country walks across the edge of the Trough of Bowland - space to clear your head and reconnect with the outdoors.

  • A home, not a clinic

With just 33 beds, Littledale is small enough to feel personal. Comfortable bedrooms, shared living and dining rooms, and quiet spaces for therapy - a calm, homely setting, not an institution.

  • Support around the clock

Staffed 24 hours a day by an experienced team, with peer support woven into daily life. You're never doing this on your own.

Anais’ Story

An engraved flask reading Never Give In beside a woodland stream at Littledale

“I entered Littledale Hall as a 24 year old girl who had never understood herself, never felt like she belonged anywhere, struggled to understand why she felt the way she did and riddled with anger, defiance and a negative attitude towards the world.

As soon as you enter the doors of Littledale you know you belong, the sense of community, love, support and genuine compassion for others is unexplainable. It is a highly intense programme, some days are long, challenging, they will have you doubting yourself but the community and staff always pull through for one another. There is no such thing as feeling alone at Littledale...”
